About Praxis

Praxis is the postgraduate journal of the University of Manchester Postgraduate Philosophy Department

Praxis is the postgraduate journal of the University of Manchester Postgraduate Philosophy Department. It was founded in 2007 by Vasco Castela and Paula Satne Jones, who created the journal’s first website and served as the original editorial team until 2009. David Alexander Smith joined Praxis as its first Art editor around this time, contributing numerous pieces of original cover art to early issues.

Praxis was envisioned as a forum for debate over the various claims of differing philosophical disciplines; though primarily from the standpoint of contemporary analytic philosophy. The first call for papers was sent in 2007 and the first issue went online in April 2008. After receiving financial support from the Researcher-led initiatives (University of Manchester) in 2013, the editorial team has been in the process of improving editorial quality and web access under the coordination of Pablo López-Silva as main editor, Aaron Wilson as co-editor and Leo Tarasov as Book Review Editor.
